Question gas or electric or solar boilers

I have ben is Spain 2 years and my two year old boiler needs replacing. I use it for central heating in winter and just hot water in the rest of the year. I need some guidance on a replacement as all the suppliers have their own agenda. Is electric significantly more expensive than gas?

Hi Lewisobispo and welcome to Myspain, I'm not to hot on this subject but going by our bills I would think gas is cheaper to run the leccy. We replaced our boiler last year and although we only run hot water off it at the moment we went for a middle of the range Junker. It has an automatic pilotlight which also means we are not burning gas whilst not in use, suits our needs, not sure where you are living but here in Cadiz the leccy is going up all the time. We have bottled gas that is costing us 11.50 per bottle, did go up to 16E at one time but the bigboys step in and said it had to come back down. Expect one of the chaps will be along soon with better info. Good luck.

If finances permit you might want to look into solar power to heat the water I know a fair few people who have done this now and having great success.

Sure it will take awhile to get initial outlay back but once you have the running costs are quite low and you would be doing your bit for the environment also!
