This is a bit of a silly one folks!
But what are the symptoms of Heatstroke? And if they match up(!) what will help to get rid of it?
I was working in the strong sun in the week and was very uncomfortable. I haven't been able to sleep hardly at all since so am extremely tired. I have been drinking loads of water, but can't seem to keep anything down and today i keep having dizzy spells, upset stomach, blinding headache and what I think may be panic attacks. I don't want to go out as it's way too hot, andy vision keeps going blurry. I have the aircon blasting but then I end up shivering. I really feel pretty ill, well more ill than pretty!
I know it probably sounds stupid, I think I should be trying to sleep, but every time I try to look it up on the net my connection falls over. To cap it all I am on my tod too!
Anyone got any ideas what I should do?
Ta

Heat exhaustion
The symptoms of heat exhaustion can develop rapidly. They include:
- your skin feeling very hot and flushed,
- heavy sweating,
- dizziness,
- fatigue,
- nausea,
- vomiting,
- tachycardia (a rapid heartbeat),
- mental confusion, and
- urinating less often and the colour of your urine being much darker than usual.
Heatstroke
The symptoms of classic heatstroke can develop over several days if you are spending a long time somewhere hot. The symptoms of exertional heatstroke can appear more quickly, usually after physical activity.
Symptoms of heatstroke include:
- high body temperature: having a temperature of 40°C (104°F) or above is a major sign of heatstroke,
- heavy sweating that suddenly stops: if the body is unable to produce any more sweat then this is a big warning sign that the body has become over-heated and dehydrated,
- tachycardia (a rapid heartbeat),
- hyperventilation (rapid breathing), and
- muscle cramps.
The extreme heat that causes heatstroke also affects the nervous system, which in turn can cause other symptoms such as:
- mental confusion,
- lack of co-ordination,
- seizures (fits),
- restlessness or anxiety,
- problems understanding or speaking to others,
- hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that are not real),
- loss of consciousness.

Heat-exhaustion-and-heatstroke - Introduction
Have a read of that Tim it doesn't sounds like classic heat stroke from what they're saying as it says if you catch it quickly then drinking and staying in the cool fix it the vast majority of the time.
If you're not sleeping well this could also be the cause but it's a catch 22 you need to feel better before you can try and get some decent sleep.
Heat Stroke serious Tim
Rule 1 cool down eg get in pool and stand there until you think you are shivering.
If not in pool then a tepid, not cold shower for ages until you think you are freezing.
Cold shower closes down the skin blood, tepid shower at 28 to 32 degrees opens up skin and cools you faster.
Check temp but heady, out of focus, sicky feeling all adds up. Drink loads of fluids such as isotonic and some water but keep salt and sugar intake up.
Thanks everyone.
It all ties in with the last bit of Sam's post above.
I will try the pool and see what happens.
If I don't report back, send out a search party, I think Darren has the number!
Tim added to what others have said if you are working out in the heat you need to keep your head cool by not only wearing a hat but wearing a linen one that you can keep soaking and keeping your head damp. You may think you are drinking enough water but again if working hard in the sun you need to drink more often. Try and rest up in the shade over the weekend.![]()
