Does anyone know if they have such a thing here in Spain?
I don't know Sammy can't say I have heard of one, there is a British GP in Jerez that does well-women clinic along with diabetes and a couple of other things, as well as general healthcare.
We are going to see her on the 3rd March, I'll ask her if she does and then post back.
Yes I know this is an old thread....but I just wanted to make you all aware that anyone over 50 is entitled (if not always informed) to have a basic MOT by their GP. If it is not automatically offered to you by your Centro de Salud, please note that you are able to request it (FOC) and they will run all the necessary blood/urine/weight/blood pressure checks and give you a print out.
Generally it works like this - you book an appointment with your GP. He/She then fills out the necessary form detailing the analyses required and you then book an appointment at reception for the nurse to do the tests. After the nurse has done the tests, you go straight back to reception to book your appointment to go over the results with the doctor (within approx 7-10 days).
Obviously anything that requires further investigation will then be followed up either by the GP or by referral to a specialist.

Sammy, our medical insurance offers a yearly well man and well woman check up as part of the policy. Terry decided to take it up and contacted the Hospital de Levante in Benidorm for his. It was very thorough, and in fact they detected high BP and a heart murmur. He had to have all sorts of tests and went back to see the doc there, who went through all the results with him, prescribed medication etc. Unfortunately I can't give you any idea of cost, because they dealt direct with the insurance company, but I would certainly recommend the hospital (if you remember, I had to stay there recently when I had kidney stones) and the wellman check. Hope this is of help.
Seeing as this thread has popped up again I thought I would just say Mal is now under Dr Kate Walsh in Jerez for his medical needs and what a very good doctor she is. He has had his "Man Check" and it all seems to be working fine and dandy, loads of test done so his mind is at rest for another year, the cost for this was covered by our health cover so not sure what it all come to.
I do know she charges 30e for an appointment, and the blood test are whatever the lab charges and 3e if she needs to give you a jab plus the cost of the serum used, Mal will stay with her for his diabetes as she really is getting to grips with it for him.![]()
Sorry - my post was in regards to those covered on the Seguridad Social and is normally an annual check.![]()
I went for a well man test in England a few years ago. I had to see an obese nurse. Her arse cheeks were hanging over each side of her chair. She explained a few things to me about nutrition etc. I have never been overweight in my life so I completely ignored her advice.![]()
