Default Spotting the signs of a stroke early can dramatically increase recovery.

I hope this can help someone, I have just been watching the TV and noticed the NHS have started to run a spot the signs of a stroke early campaign. According to the TV program which mentioned it it's vital to get medical help within 3 hours of showing signs of a possible stroke.

    Why rapid diagnosis is vital

Quick diagnosis of stroke is important to understanding the cause, the damage done and what immediate medical treatment is needed. People with a suspected stroke should have a brain scan as soon as possible to determine:
    • If the stroke was caused by a blocked artery or a burst blood vessel.
    • Which part of the brain has been affected.
    • How severe the stroke is.
The sooner the person is diagnosed, the sooner they can be treated and the greater their chances of survival and recovery.
Rapid diagnosis of TIA allows steps to be taken to reduce the risk of a second and potentially major stroke.

Thank you El Camino for this, a couple of weeks before Christmas my sister suffered a stoke and thanks to the quick thinking of the lady that worked with her she was in hospital and being treated within an hour of the onset of the stroke. Not only did this save her life but it has also minimised the serverity of the stroke, although she still has a long way to go she is now back home with her family and able to walk again with the aid of a frame. Once again thanks
