any work there for a painter and decorator who hates the weather in uk and the politics lol.
no i cant speak spanish ty anyway for your reply
Oh, and the politics in Spain are even worse!
Seriously though, everyone is struggling in Spain at the moment.
The expat pensioners are down probably 30 % on their income since the exchange rate collapsed, in effect, the pensioners supported most of the younger expat population with work.
At the best of times, it was always a good idea to take at least a years' money with you to live on when you move to Spain, allowing time to find employment, and have something to fall back on. Now, I would say to take at least 2 years money!
And if you cannot speak Spanish, then I would say think of somewhere else!
The employment situation is quite bad over here, but you could always check to see what's on offer at Infojobs. You never know...

I agree with what has been said above. The work situation is pretty bad. A lot of maintenance work that had been planned for the autumn and winter has now been put off because people either havn't got the money or are now trying to cut back on spending this year. Loads of Brit construction industry tradesmen (and I use the term in its loosest sense) have gone back to the UK because there isn't enough work to go round.
Another thing is that even when times were good you had a lot of people were painters but they also had other jobs such as bar work, pool cleaning or whatever because not everyone could find enough work in a particular trade and also because a lot of the work is seasonal. You get guys who are builders in the winter but run or work in bars etc in the summer.
