Scrabble slows for me if it has been open a while anyway.....I just come out and go in again and its fine.
Whats a task manager?![]()
For ages now I have been having problems with browsing if I have multiple tabs or pages open.
If for example I have the scrabble page open on Facebook, I often leave it open and toggle between it and say this site. After a while though, the laptop slows right down and crawls to almost a stop. If I shut down the scrabble page, it will improve, but often, I have to shut down firefox completely. A lot of the time, I can only do that from Windows Task Manager,
and then there will often be another instance of firefox running, even though there isn't?! At that point, the task manager will often show the page file as using 1.5 gig of memory? But once I manage to shut down Firefox, that drops to 400 odd meg and everything is soon back to normal except it takes an age to open a new instance of firefox.
Any thoughts anyone?

I've got the same problem with mine and I've got a newish laptop!
I tracked it down to Java thingie (not Javascript, supposedly different!) if anything loads up java (an icon appears in the tray) then after a few mins the laptop fans come on bigtime and windows crawls along!
Yep, same here. It also did the same on the other laptop that I was using, but I don't remember it happening on the pc that I was using at the time, which I thought was odd because at the time I had that rig, all the software versions matched, which is why I thought it was the lappy.
Any idea how to cure it?
Whats Java ?????
