    Default Beware MONDIAL ASSISTANCE

HI all a note of warning, my wife is currently in Puerta Del Mar hospital in Cadiz we came on holiday 3 weeks ago,and she started to complain of headaches and started vomiting,I took her to Sancti Petri Clinic in Chiclana where she was diagnosed as having a brain tumour,I called Mondial who are insuring us and I have to say dealing with them has been a nightmare, after 2 nights in the Sancti petri clinic she was transfered to Cadiz, after 5 days of Mondial checking with our G.P. in London to check she had been telling the truth when signing up for insurance they finally decided to order an air ambulance for her, her sisters came out to look after her and myself and my two children, one of seven the other fourteen,on the firist Saturday, a day after we arrived on holiday, seven days later they arranged flights for us to return to London, thats me and my sons and my wifes two sisters,my wife was to go by air ambulance,we had to fly from Seville to Lisbon and from there on to London my wife was going from Jerez to Biggin hill near London and being transfered to Kings College Hospital in Denmark hill in London, when I finally reached London I got a Call from the Spanish lady who had been in the next bed to my wife to tell me that the air ambulance crew had come to get her but decided that she could not travel and abandoned her at the hospital,I phoned Mondial from Heathrow and asked them what had happened, they were not sure and said they would call me back,I then got a call from the British consulate in Malaga informing me that my wife was having surgery in Cadiz to remove the tumour,I phoned Mondial and told them what I had been told and they said this was not true I asked them to get me back to Seville as quickly as possible, they said they could get me to Madrid the next day for 1pm and then onto Jerez for 3pm,I told them there was a flight with Ryanair to Seville the next day at 7.10am,they said they dont deal with Ryanair so I booked it myself for me and one of my sister in laws,we were back in Cadiz for 1pm,since then Mondial have had us in three different hotels in 7 days and refuse to provide nursing for my wife round the clock,my sister and law and I are taking it in turn to look after my wife in hospital, where at firist she was attempting to self harm herself,we have so far had to speak to about 10 different people at Mondial as they juggle the case, this is a warning that dealing with them is a nightmare,

Oh my god DJ what a dreadful thing to have happened, I' speechless I really we are not with Mondial but I sometimes think most insurance companies pass the buck at a time like this.

I just want to say that if you need anything at all whilst you are here please, please contact me I will send you my mobile number via here and other forums so hopefully you get it. Even if you need a permanent hassel free bed for a while please don't hesitate to contact me and Mal.

Our thought and prayers are with you and your family. Christine. xx

I am speechless just like Chris!

I only live a couple of hours away and like Chris if there is anything I can do to help then please just say the word!
Lifes to short to wake up with regrets. So love the people who treat you right, forget the ones who dont. Believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a second chance grab it with both hands. If it changes your life, let it!

Don't know what to say. It's a disgusting way to treat people let alone those who are ill.
The only problems that I have ever heard of here involving the medical profession involve private insurance.
My wife has had two children here in Valencia, and the care and professionalism was second to none. My Father in law was diagnosed and treated for Cancer in Gandia hospital in Valencia, and again, the treatment was second to none. Sadly he lost his battle two christmases ago, but it was not down to the care or treatment. My mother in law was taken in in a collapsed state last year with what turned out to be leishmaniasis (sp!), again, fantastic treatment.
On the other hand, an uncle went in privately last year for a knee replacement. He caught an infection and they had to repeat the operation. the same thing happened again,! He is now in a care private care home, waiting to be well enough to have yet another knee replacement, which he cannot have until the infection is gone. Meanwhile, he literally has no knee, is wheelchair bound, and unless they can sort the infection very quickly, he will lose his leg!
Sorry to waffle, but it seems that here, you don't always get what you pay for.
Thoughts are with you and your wife. Take care of both!

Dont hold your breath if you are waiting to get paid out, they aint in a rush even if you need the money to buy drugs that are not on the NHS list.
